What is an antique?
Often times our clients ask us how old an item has to be in order for it to be considered an antique. In general, for an item to be categorized as an antique it has to be at least 100 years old. However, that does not mean that your items are worthless just because they are not antique. Many valuable items were made in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Although we are antique buyers, we also buy many other items as well. One of the hottest markets right now is mid-century modern designer furniture. We are always looking for these items.
Beyond Antique Appraisal
We’re not just in the business for ourselves. We want to see your antiques end up in a great home, for a great price, even if it’s not with us. Some antiques perform wonderfully at auctions. We’ll connect you with our network of antique dealers and auctioneers across NYC and Long Island, to get you the most buck for your valuables.
You might have an abundance of items that aren’t extremely valuable, but still worth something. In order to sell a lot of antiques at once, an estate or tag sale could be a good option. If so, we’ll refer you to our estate sale expert, who has helped people sell their antique items for over 40 years.
Our team also includes Manhattan antique dealers that are experts in specific types of valuables. From ancient Chinese porcelain, to antique European paintings, to first edition inscribed books, to 19th-century art glass and more, our specialists can come to your door and let you know if your antiques are valuable.
